THREES

A pass-and-play dice game. Lowest score wins.

About

Threes is a simple dice game for 1 to 8 players, played by passing one phone around the table. Each turn you roll 5 dice, hold the ones you want to keep, and re-roll the rest until all 5 are held. Lowest total score wins the round.

The twist: every die scores its face value, except a 3 scores zero. Tied players play a tiebreaker round at double stakes.

How to play

  1. Enter the names of everyone playing (1-8 players).
  2. On your turn, roll all 5 dice.
  3. Tap or drag at least one die to hold it, then roll the rest.
  4. Keep holding and re-rolling until all 5 dice are held.
  5. Your score is the sum of your held dice, except 3s count as zero.
  6. Pass the phone to the next player. Lowest total after everyone's turn wins.

Strategy hint: hold your 1s and 3s early. A 3 is the only die worth zero, and a 1 is nearly as good.

Roll five 6s on your first roll of a turn and you shoot the moon — an instant win for the round.
